The Annual CH Surf trip 2016
Every year to show appreciation to the surf crew at Coconut Harry’s for a job well done we do an annual surf boat trip. This year we decided to go to Ollies point from Playa del Coco. We loaded up a van with Luis the Chofer who has a transport business in town and headed out at 3 a.m. in the morning. We met the boats from Go South Adventures and made our way to the waves. The captain Walter took us to a less know reef break before going to Ollies. He said Ollies was going to be really crowded The waves looked pretty good and there were only two guys out. Luigi and Nelson were frothing to get some waves and decided to go for it. Marq and I were stubborn about hitting Ollies. The swell was supposed to be peaking that day and we figured there would be big enough waves to spread out the crowd. We took the other boat to Ollies with Joel and Luis and left the rest of the surf crew at the hidden spot. We get to Ollies and there re 10 boats in the water with close to 50 surfers on a point break. A complete zoo and the waves were not pumping like we thought. We ended up catching 4-5 waves over a 2 hour a period and went back to find the other guys. They surfed the other spot alone with clean consistent conditions and caught tons of waves.. Luigi had to rub it in and said, You should always listen to your surf instructors.. haha.. He was right.. So we had another session all together and had a great time with some rainy glassy conditions.. All and all it was a super fun surf trip!! Hope you enjoy the video.. Pura Vida!! P.S. Let us know if you would like us to arrange a boat surf trip while you are here.
